The Street vs. Tyler Smithson: Bout of the Week!

The Street vs. Tyler Smithson
Google
Alright folks, it’s once again time to tally the scorecard and see who better predicted Google’s Q1 earnings results.  However, unlike some other stocks, Revenue and EPS are really the only two measures to compare, given that Google doesn’t publicize guidance. So let’s get right to it…

Revenue:  Google reported Q1 revenue after TAC of $5.064 Bil.  This is in comparison to my estimate of $5.161 Bil, resulting in a 1.92% deviation, and The Street’s consensus of $4.950 Bil, or a 2.25% difference.  Score a point for Smithson Equity Analysis!  1-0
EPS:  Google announced a great Q1 EPS figure of $6.76.  This compares to my estimate of $6.61, a 2.22% deviation, and The Street’s consensus at the time I published my figures of $6.56, a 2.96% variation.  Score another point for Tyler Smithson!  2-0

Well, once again Smithson Equity Analysis beats The Street, this time 2-to-0.
For now, I am reaffirming my 1-year Price Target at $730.97.  After earnings season I plan to reanalyze Google’s statements and revise my Q2 estimates and target price.
